Morning puddles at Rock-a-Nore and sunshine in a summer house. Markets and parcels and chocolate for breakfast. A bird's nest in an enamel pot, afternoon tea overlooking the sea.

                                     

Tidying and sorting

The house is evolving. So many things moved on, left on the doorstep for people to take away. A desk to a new home in London. Bags and bags to the charity shop. Ideas to form a miniature library out on the street. Drawers and boxes and cupboards turfed out, archived, recycled. New piles. Walls to finish plastering. Stairs to strip back. Windows to fix. Damp patches to address. The roof!

The cat grows old and slow, she is losing her winter coat. Ideas of paintings, of collections, precious found things. Drawings, photographs, and dolls from scraps. Of solitude and wilderness. Watching and waiting. Guests for tea. Boots to dry. Pencils to sharpen. Books to read.
